Backup Codes
Backup codes are your ultimate safety net, ensuring you can regain access to Strapi even in challenging situations. Think of them as your emergency key to the system.
It’s crucial to store these codes securely. Whether you save them in a password manager or write them down and lock them away, having them accessible in a pinch ensures you’re never locked out of Strapi.
When you activate your MFA method, backup codes will be generated if they do not exist yet.
Note: If you change the encryption method of backup codes from hashed to encrypted the backup codes will be deleted and you'll need to regenerate them.

Best Practices for Storing Backup Codes
- Use a Password Manager: Safely store your codes in a password manager for quick and secure access.
- Keep a Physical Copy: Write your codes down and store them in a secure, physical location, like a safe.
- Don’t Share: Backup codes are unique to your account. Keep them private and never share them with anyone.
